Sometimes the best way to move forward is to literally put one foot in front of the other.
Walk and talk therapy takes traditional counselling off the couch and into the fresh air. It’s a powerful way to experience therapeutic support, while walking side by side through nature, parks, or along the shoreline. This type of counselling can feel more relaxed and less daunting than sitting in a formal setting, making it ideal for those who feel stuck, restless, or simply want to try something different.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, low mood, life transitions, or simply need space to reflect and recalibrate, walking outdoors creates natural rhythm and movement that can help unlock thoughts and feelings more freely. The simple act of walking can soothe the nervous system, clear mental fog, and offer grounding, especially when surrounded by trees, birdsong, and open skies.
As a counsellor, I believe that many clients will feel more at ease when we are walking side by side rather than face-to-face. Without the pressure of eye contact, people often open up more easily, and the pace of the walk can mirror the pace of the conversation. Some sessions are contemplative and quiet others are full of energy and insight.
You do not need to be super fit or sporty. We will go at your pace and walk as much or as little as feels comfortable. And in case the weather does not cooperate, there is always the option of a traditional indoor session or rescheduling.
If you are curious about whether walk and talk therapy might be a good fit for you, I would love to have a chat and explore it together.
Let’s walk, talk and work towards what’s next for you.
