Empathy has no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It’s simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of ‘You’re not alone.’”
Maybe something happened. A relationship ended, a job changed, a diagnosis shifted the ground beneath you. Or maybe there is no single thing you can point to, just a feeling that's been there a while, quietly getting heavier.
You don't have to be in crisis to come to therapy. And you don't have to have it all figured out before you get in touch.
I'm Debbie. I'm a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Norfolk, where I work with people face to face and I also work online across the UK. My job is simply to help you think more clearly, feel less alone, and find a way forward that's actually yours.

I have worked with people through some genuinely difficult issues. Before training as a therapist, I spent years in the corporate world and over nine years supporting armed forces personnel and their families through the Warrior Programme. My own experience of therapy matters too. I know what it's like to sit in that chair.
I am a pluralistic therapist, which means I do not follow a single method. I draw on different approaches depending on what you need, and we work at your pace. I'm a registered member of the BACP and an accredited member of the NCPS. I work primarily with women, but I am open to work with anyone. Most of the people I work with are going through a significant life change, whether that's a relationship breakdown, burnout, bereavement, or simply a point where the old ways of coping have stopped working.

One-to-one sessions in Norwich and Cromer, or online.

Outdoor sessions along the Norfolk coast near Mundesley. Therapy, but with sea air.
Therapy gives you space to say the things you haven't been able to say, and to start making sense of them. It's not advice. It's not being told what to do. It's a proper, honest conversation with someone trained to listen without judgement.
Over time, most people find they begin to understand themselves better. Patterns become clearer. Reactions start to make sense. And from that understanding, real change becomes possible. This doesn’t happen overnight, and not in a straight line, but over time things can get easier.
My role is to be alongside you in that process. Nothing more, nothing less.
Most of the people I see are women navigating a significant change or a moment they didn't see coming. Anxiety, burnout, grief, low confidence, life transitions that nobody quite prepared them for. Divorce. A health scare. Retirement. The slow creep of stress that's quietly taken over.
Some people arrive with trauma they have been carrying for years. Others are simply exhausted and can't see a way through. Whatever brought you here, it's enough. You don't need to justify it.
Wondering if this might be right for you? The first step is just a conversation. I offer an initial free 30 minute consultation so we can talk it through, with no pressure and no commitment.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how therapy works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to therapy, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07740818871 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential.
